| ABOUT CONCERTS-AT-HOME | ||
| Internationally-renowned jazz pianist Ted Rosenthal founded Concerts-at-Home in response to audience demand. After listening to hundreds of Rosenthal performances across the U.S. and the world, jazz lovers requested a more personal, intimate environment in which to enjoy his masterful piano work. Joining forces with some of his regular musical collaborators, Rosenthal developed a series of programs suitable for private functions. The result? A world-class jazz performance group just for you and your guests. | ||
ABOUT TED ROSENTHAL Ted Rosenthal entered the international spotlight by winning first prize in the 2nd annual Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition. He has since released 10 CD's as a leader. His latest, The King and I, features his jazz trio (George Mraz - bass, Lewis Nash - drums) renditions of the songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic musical. Rosenthal's recent CDs include The 3B's, and ThreePlay, both on Playscape Recordings. The 3B's, which received 4 stars from Down Beat, features solo renditions of the music of Bud Powell, Bill Evans and his strikingly original improvisations on Beethoven themes. ThreePlay is a trio outing featuring bassist Dennis Irwin and drummer Matt Wilson. ThreePlay explores Rosenthal originals and jazz standards with an invigorating and free spirited approach. Rosenthal has toured with the Gerry Mulligan and Jon Faddis Quartets, the Art Farmer and Phil Woods Quintets, The Carnegie Hall Jazz Band and the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. He has also performed with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. Rosenthal is also the pianist of choice for many top jazz vocalists including Helen Merrill, Mark Murphy, and Ann Hampton-Callaway. He has appeared on Marian McPartland's "Piano Jazz" on National Public Radio and performed with David Sanborn on NBC's "Night Music". Rosenthal has also performed many classical/jazz crossover performances including solo and featured appearances with The Boston Pops, The Greater Palm Beach Symphony, The Tulsa Philharmonic, The Kansas City Symphony, and The North Carolina Symphony. A faculty member of The Juilliard School, and Manhattan School of Music, Rosenthal is active in jazz education and presents jazz workshops throughout the country.
